Kevlar Hard Hat
Today when it comes to the purchasing of a Kevlar hard hat you will find that there are number of different styles to choose from. The one you select is of course dependent on the type of work that you will be doing whilst wearing. So in order for you to determine which kind you should be wearing we look at the styles that are available and when they should be worn.
Type 1 – Accessory Slot/Slotted Hard Hat
This type of Kevlar hard hat has slots one either side of the main part of it. With this type you are then in a position to wear other protective gear with it such as face shields and ear muffs. This type is best used by those in the manufacturing industry who work with noisy machinery.
Type 2 – Bump Cap
When it comes to this type of hat it only offers light protection to the person wearing it. It is really designed for providing protection against blows or an impact occurring to either the tops or sides of one’s head. You certainly shouldn’t be wearing this sort of hard hat if you work in the mining or construction industry.
Type 3 – Cap Style Hard Hat
This is the design of hard hat that is instantly recognizable to many of us today and the kind that we would normally think that those who work in the construction industry wear. They just have a brim at the front and they look very similar in design to baseball caps. But these are designed to withstand lots of impact and blows being forced on them.
Type 4 – Full Brim Hard Hat
Although the shape of this Kevlar hard hat is similar to that of the cap style one instead rather than just having a brim at the front it goes around the whole bottom edge of the hat. This type of hat not only offers protection against falling objects but also from the elements. Both this and the cap style are perfect for being used by those who work in the construction or mining industries.
Of course after deciding you need to make sure that you take care of yours. Plus it is important that you regularly inspect yours. But don’t just concern yourself with inspecting the exterior of your hard hat but also the interior including the suspension system. As soon as you notice anything untoward then this is the time to think about replacing it.
What sorts of things should you be looking for when it comes to having to replace yours?
You should be looking to replace your Kevlar hard hat if you notice any cracks appearing in the shell or if the surface has become chalky or dull. Plus you should also look at replacing yours as soon as you notice that the shell has become brittle.
As for the suspension system within your Kevlar hard hat this must be replaced if it has become brittle or if any of the mounts have broken. Plus immediately replace this part of the hard hat if you notice it isn’t helping to keep it securely on your head.
